Meet Tracey

Hello, I am Tracey the owner of TJW Pilates, a wife and mother of two grown up children and two adorable King Charles Spaniels.

Some of you might recognise me from teaching various fitness classes for many years at private health and clubs around Sheffield.

Several years ago I decided to focus all my knowledge into one field and specialize in Clinical Pilates. I have always had a passion for Pilates and its wider benefits to the whole body. I wanted to make sure all my clients were doing their exercises correctly under my supervision and control.

I qualified as a Level 3 Modern Pilates teacher. As well as being qualified in pre and post natal Pilates. I've also done more specialised courses in back care, hip, knee and shoulder rehabilitation.

After teaching classes for myself in church halls and other spaces  I opened my own studio 5 years ago in Bradway.

Being a Pilates teacher is my dream job as I adore working with and helping people. The success stories are what makes my job so rewarding as well as the relationships I get to build with all my clients. TJW Pilates isn't a job its my extended family.

The Benefits of Pilates

Created by physical trainer Joseph Pilates in 1920s America, Pilates is a low-intensity exercise method designed originally to help injured dancers and athletes in their recovery. Its popularity soared with the discovery of its many health benefits for everyone!

Some of the many health benefits of Pilates include:

  • Improved flexibility Increased muscle strength and tone, particularly of your ‘core’ abdominal muscles, lower back, shoulders, hips and buttocks
  • Balanced muscular strength on both sides of your body
  • Enhanced muscular control of your back and limbs
  • Improved posture, using postural exercises & techniques
  • Increased focus and concentration
  • Increases mobility and strength
  • A more stable pelvis
  • Improves sporting performance
  • Guaranteed improvements within a few sessions

Client Success Stories

Learn how to reduce your aches and pains and live a healthier, happier lifestyle but don't take my word for it:

"Thank you so much for making lock down fun. I have been enjoying Pilates with you for over a decade following you from Hallam to your wonderful studio to ease the work related aches and pains in my back. With lock down you stuck with your clients by zooming the classes. The latest edition of themed classes has really helped to lift my spirits in this otherwise gloomy winter. I hope to keep up your classes for years to come."

Kathy

"I can’t praise Tracey’s Pilates classes enough. They are challenging at times but that’s good and the benefits I’ve gained are worth the effort. Not only does it keep me fit and my core strong, but after my hip replacement Tracey’s help and advice has been invaluable. Sessions are uplifting, fun and varied. In this year of the pandemic and lock downs, Pilates has been a life-saver and often the highlight of the week. Well done Tracey , you’re brilliant!"

Jane

"I’ve been going to Tracey for a few years now and because of her classes I don’t need to visit the chiropractor anymore. I was paying out a lot of money for chiropractor sessions for my neck pain but now a weekly session at TJW Pilates is enough to keep me mobile and pain free."

Lisa

"Our amazing expertise has stopped the ageing process and reversed my body clock. I am more flexible and stronger and the special ingredient of fun has worked my chuckle muscles every session."

Margaret

"I joined TJW Pilates about 4 years ago as a means of improving my general fitness with the hope of strengthening my ‘weak’ back to enable me to continue to with my gardening hobby. I have found Tracey to be an excellent teacher with the sessions being very enjoyable and imaginative, even if physically demanding on occasions. My general fitness has been improved, my back feels much stronger and the garden looks pretty good as well! I am very pleased to recommend TJW Pilates."

David

"At the age of 67 I can still put my socks on while standing up (and not leaning on anything). Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tracey"

David

"A friend brought me along to TJW Pilates 10 years ago, after my husband had passed away. I had become quite anxious and my body reacted, my shoulders and hip were stiff and painful and my neck hurt. Within 6 weeks my shoulder had relaxed my hip was improving and my neck was pain free. I was unfortunate to slip on black ice in 2014 and I managed to smash my ankle resulting in a fracture. The surgeon inserted 2 plates and 12 screws. Over time it was quite apparent this was going to take months to rectify. Tracey enabled me to access her class at Hallam Community Center and I began my rehabilitation. The exercise most difficult for me was being able to balance without pain in my ankle, but with time, muscle strengthening and expert guidance from Tracey, I managed to feel safe on my feet again."
